Learning Biblical Greek for Children

Although Scripturial is specifically designed for use with children, is possible to use Scripturial with children and at what age it might be appropriate. It is impossible to answer this definitively for every child, but here is the information you need to help make this decision.

I have personally found Scripturial useful for study with my children. In my personal experience, my 8-10 year old was able to use the app relatively independently and my 6-7 year old was able to enjoy using the app, but he needed direct supervision to remain focussed.

Mild allusion to violence

Scripturial includes vocabulary and images that could allude to violence. It teaches, and uses images to depict words such as axe, and sword. It teaches the word for dragon using cartoon and semi-realistic AI generated pictures of dragons. It also teaches vocabulary related to death and grieving. Direct depiction of violence is avoided, there is imagery of a person holding an axe and a sword, but the weapons are not depicted as being used in violent acts.

Concept of Evil

To teach the word for evil, images of evil angels and demons are included. For memorization purposes, the images are designed to vividly evoke the feeling of evil using red/fire themed backdrops and colours. Some of these images might be be scary for some younger children who have not yet been exposed to images of these concepts.

The Human Body

The word for body is taught using detailed non-gender specific drawings of the human body. Pictures are limited to what might be seen in some doctors office. Here is an example.

Try Before you Buy

If you have any concern, it is strongly advised that you complete the app first to confirm if it is appropriate for your children. Please note that sales and refunds are handled handled by Apple and Google directly, refund requests can only be handled by Apple and Google according to Apple and Google refund policies.

Data Collection

Previous versions of the app collected a username, name, and email address and this information was used to display of the global and team ladders. For previous versions, this meant some children in some states with strict privacy rules were not permitted to use the app. The current version of Scripturial does not collect user data under normal operation, which makes the app available to a larger number of people.

Currently, the only time data is recorded is when a user taps the feedback button and to user feedback on a question or a lesson. Feedback is handled according to the privacy policy and requires acceptence of the Terms and Conditions.
